Feature Highlights
While every new release contains hundreds of improvements, ServiceLedger 2013 and 2013R2 have many new features, listed briefly below.
ServiceLedger 2013
- Improved Balance Details on Customer History.
- Improvements to Quick Find (F3) - more record types supported.
- Improvements to the Update system to make updates quicker.
- Added two new print options for how logos print on default reports.
- It is possible to turn off the "Did this [...] print successfully?" prompt.
- It is possible to turn off the "Would you like to return to the job window?" prompt when scheduling.
- Serialized inventory tracking improvements.
- Minimum commission for tech commissions.
- Additional support for customer and item search dropdowns vs list dropdowns.
- Resizable job notes / tech work description on the Job window.
- Additional display options for the service schedule.
- Customer and location-specific job notes, which are visible on the job window when servicing that customer or location.
- Added support for custom fields to significantly more windows.
- It is now possible to clear items with zero on-hand/available quantity from inventory locations.
- List views will now remember column width adjustments.
- Added ability to copy items.
- Added Item Kit Expansion / Bill of Materials (BoM) window and improved kit navigation.
ServiceLedger 2013R2
- Optional customer search by contact instead of by customer name.
- Equipment-Serialized Inventory integration.
- Added support for inactive contacts.
- Contacts can now use location addresses rather than always having to type a contact address.
- Estimates now support a billing location instead of only using the customer's main billing location.
- Estimates can now be associated with specific customer contacts.
- Added support for custom tabsheets on several windows.
- Added email import feature - note: requires custom services to implement.
- Added support for automatically using technician inventory locations when adding invoices charges to a job specifically assigend to that tech, both via SL and on the tech portal.
- Added ability to choose a specific travel rate and mileage item on tech entries.
- Added options for how to calculate invoice due dates.
- Show additional inventory information on the Item window to better understand committed / on order / available quantities.
- Added Preferences window, which groups several preferences together into one place and provides an interface for some options that were previously available only as advanced options.
- Added support for Windows Share attachment storage.
- Added support for up to three commissions on line items and increased the number of kinds of resources that can receive commission.
- Improved item coverage setup on contracts and contract plans.
- Added additional rounding options for labor rounding on tech entries.
- Added option to set invoice types based on job type when creating an invoice as part of posting a job.
- Added new Refund window, which allows explicitly refunding credit rather than simply marking a specific credit as "refunded".
- Added ability to switch line items on jobs from Invoice Charges to Job Costs and vice versa via the new "Cost Only" checkbox.
- Added options for how the start/end date fields on jobs are set automatically (or not).
- Quick Find (F3) can now find records by reference number as well as the primary number.
- Tax Rates now support Tax Codes when necessary.
- Emailing a job can now include the job attachments as email attachments.
- Tasks can now be scheduled to multiple techs via the "Schedule this task" button.
- Dispatch Actions are now available on all views in the Service Schedule.
- Dispatch confirmations now automatically stamp the job's notes field.
- Significantly improved the data visible in the PM scheduler and added new sorting/filtering capabilities.
- Jobs can now create an invoice with the same number as the job number.
- Customers can now specify a default resource / technician.
- Jobs may now have custom field values from the customer window propagated to identically-named custom fields on the job window.
- Added support for dynamically-visible custom fields, e.g. using a checkbox to show or hide special additional tabsheets.
- Added support for a Hybrid attachment method, where attachments are stored initially in the database but can be exported to a windows file share.
- Added support for resource-specific tech portal permissions, overriding the configured permissions.
- Jobs now support showing the printed name for signatures.
- Invoices can now include attached files when being emailed.
- Reports can now be emailed through SL's built-in email window, providing an opportunity to review the message and PDF before sending and review the history of the report being sent.
- Jobs can now update with changes to the site or bill location.
- Equipment PMs can now be consolidated into single jobs if at the same location or on the same day.
- The time sheet now shows work time and travel time.
- Custom lookup fields now show a description column if present.
- Attachment notes can now be edited and changes are preserved.
- Added Installer and Sold By fields to equipment.
